DHL Express Bolsters Transportation, Handling Capacity Ahead of End-Of-Year Peak Season
By Mauro Orru
Deutsche Post said its DHL Express business was investing to expand transportation and handling capacity in the fourth quarter in anticipation of higher demand for its services during the end-of-year peak season.
The German logistics group, also known as DHL Group, said DHL Express was investing more than 100 million euros ($110.1 million) to expand aviation capacity and bolster its international parcel sorting and delivery network with the deployment of eight new Boeing 777 freighters.
"We are expecting a healthy surge in demand for express services in the fourth quarter and are making the necessary investments to make our customers successful," DHL Express Chief Executive John Pearson said in a statement.
