Intel prices offering at 3% discount to Monday's close
Intel on Tuesday said it is increasing its stock offering to $20 billion.
Intel on Tuesday said it would increase the size of its offering of new shares by an additional $5 billion to $20 billion.
The announcement, one day after the news of the equity offering sent its stock down by 4%, triggered another 1% decline in the chipmaker's stock in early premarket trade.
Intel (INTC) priced the offering at $95, a 3% discount from Monday's close.
Intel shares nonetheless have soared 164% so far in 2026 as investors bet on its turnaround efforts.
Intel says it's using the proceeds for general corporate purposes, which may include capital expenditures and working capital.
Ahead of the Intel offering, analysts at Goldman Sachs said there were $70 billion worth of so-called "follow-on offerings" in the second quarter and $105 billion through July, which is the largest volume of follow-on issuance at this point in the calendar year since 2021.
Like Intel, the lion's share of the proceeds will be used to fund capital expenditure related to the artificial-intelligence build-out.
