Allstate Reports Preliminary Third-Quarter Results, Expects a Substantial Loss

Allstate announced preliminary results for the third quarter, and the metrics released show the company continuing to struggle with underwriting and capital market headwinds. The company expects to report a loss of about $700 million for the quarter. While these numbers suggest the near term may be a bit more difficult than we had expected, we will maintain our $125 per share fair value estimate and no-moat rating.
