Thyssenkrupp Nucera to Supply Electrolyzers to Neste Refinery
By Pierre Bertrand
Thyssenkrupp Nucera signed an agreement with Finland's Neste for the reservation of six 20-megawatt electrolyzers to be incorporated into the fuel company's refinery in Porvoo.
The water electrolyzers will enable Neste to produce green hydrogen at its Porvoo complex from an alkaline water electrolysis plant, Nucera said.
"The green hydrogen would primarily be used in the refinery's processes to replace hydrogen produced from fossil raw materials. The investment decision readiness is expected to be reached during 2024," Neste Oil Products Executive Vice President Markku Korvenranta said in a statement.
The agreement also covers corresponding advisory services for the combined 120 megawatt of electrolysis capacity, Nucera said.
The German electrolysis company didn't disclose financial details.
