Mercury New Zealand to Expand Kaiwera Wind Farm

Mercury NZ said it will proceed with an expansion of the Kaiwera Wind Farm, following a long-term agreement signed with New Zealand Aluminium Smelters last week.
The planned expansion near Gore will bring the total capacity of the wind farm to 198MW, which will make it the second largest in New Zealand, the company said. Construction is expected to start this month and to reach full generation by the end of 2026.
The capital expenditure of NZ$486 million will bring Mercury's total new renewables commitment to over NZ$700 million, the company said.
