U.K. Government Renews Ten-Year Missile Partnership With MBDA for $8.39 Billion
By Cristina Gallardo
The U.K. government renewed a partnership with defense manufacturer MBDA for the production of missiles in a ten-year deal valued at 6.5 billion pounds ($8.39 billion).
The contract includes MBDA delivering missiles such as the maritime-launched Future Cruise and Anti-Ship Weapon, the British Ministry of Defense said Monday. The U.K. government had previously said that this weapon would come into service in 2028.
MBDA--owned by Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo--will also continue working on its Land Precision Strike and its Meteor air-to-air missile program as part of the agreement, the MoD said.
The contract will support more than 5,500 jobs in England, the MoD said.
