Deutsche Boerse Searched as Part of EU Antitrust Probe

Deutsche Boerse said Tuesday its premises were searched as part of a European Union antitrust investigation, following news a day prior of inspections at some financial sector companies in connection with a derivatives probe.

The German stock exchange operator said it was fully cooperating with the probe.

The European Commission, the EU's antitrust arm, said late Monday that it conducted unannounced inspections at financial services companies in two member states over concerns about potential breaches of antitrust rules in connection with financial derivatives.

The inspections are a preliminary step into suspected anticompetitive practices and do not mean the companies being inspected have been engaged in wrongdoing, the Commission said.
