Nivea Maker Beiersdorf to Expand Outside Europe, Confirms Midterm Guidance
By Cristina Gallardo
Nivea owner Beiersdorf outlined plans to expand in India, China, Nigeria and the U.S. over the next two years, and confirmed its midterm guidance.
As part of a strategy published Tuesday, the German beauty and personal care company said it aims to enter new geographies and launch the first epigenetic skincare product under its Eucerin brand, due in September. Skincare companies are starting to compete with epigenetic face creams and serum formulations, which are said to be able to tweak gene expression and tackle aging.
The company will further extend the use of its patented anti-spot ingredient thiamidol across its brand portfolio to tackle hyperpigmentation.
Beiersdorf said it aims to continue its profitable growth trajectory of recent years and reiterated guidance for an expansion of its earnings before interest and taxes margin of 50 basis points a year.
The Hamburg-based business also set new greenhouse-gas reduction targets, which it aims to cut 30% by 2025 and 50% by 2032 compared with 2018 levels, with a view to reaching net zero by 2045.
