Becton Dickinson Revenue Rises on Growth Across Segments

Becton Dickinson posted higher sales for its fiscal fourth quarter, powered by broad growth across segments.

The medical-device maker posted a profit of $108 million, or 37 cents a share, for the three months ended Sept. 30, down from $265 million, or 92 cents a share, in the same period last year.

Stripping out discontinued operations, product-remediation costs and other one-time items, adjusted earnings were $3.42 a share, matching analysts' forecasts, according to FactSet.

Revenue rose nearly 7% to $5.09 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $5.02 billion.

U.S. sales grew more than 6% while international sales rose by nearly 8%. Sales from the company's base business, which excludes Covid-testing sales, rose more than 7%.

Sales in the company's medical unit rose nearly 8% while life-sciences revenue climbed 3%. The interventional segment posted sales of $1.2 billion, up nearly 10% from a year ago.
