Sun Life Names Tim Deacon Chief Financial Officer
By Robb M. Stewart
Sun Life Financial has hired Timothy Deacon, finance chief of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, as the next chief financial officer of the Canadian financial services company.
Deacon will take on the new role effective April 8, succeeding Manjit Singh, who is now president of Sun Life Asia.
Deacon has more than two decades of experience in insurance, wealth and asset management, investments and capital markets, and most recently was finance chief of a large pension plan, Sun Life said.
As CFO, he will have responsibility for Sun Life's finance organization including finance, tax, capital management, investor relations and strategic financial initiatives.
Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan said Deacon, who joined the pension investment firm in 2021, will leave April 5. It plans to launch a process to appoint a successor.
