Sasol Chemicals Sales Fall on Lower Prices

By Christian Moess Laursen

Sasol's chemicals sales fell on lower prices in fiscal 2024, although operations across segment met expectations.

The South African energy and chemicals group said Monday that chemicals sales revenue fell to $7.855 billion in the year ended June 30 from $8.99 billion in fiscal 2023, with average sales prices falling 13% to $1,246 a metric ton due to a weakening in oil prices and global demand.

Chemicals sales volumes rose 2% to 6.305 million tons, while saleable coal mining output fell 2% to 30.2 million tons and natural-gas production increased 6% to 120.8 billion standard cubic feet.

Operational performance across all segments consistently met market guidance, Sasol said.

Sasol plans to publish its fiscal 2024 results on Aug.20.
