Maersk Reports Lower Net Profit Despite Strong Container-Shipping Demand
By Nina Kienle
A.P Moeller-Maersk on Wednesday posted a drop in second-quarter net profit, despite strong container-shipping demand in a market of supply-chain disruptions.
The Danish shipping giant's quarterly net profit fell to $798 million, from $1.45 billion in the same period a year prior. Analysts expected net profit to be $781.1 million, according to consensus estimates provided by FactSet.
Last week, Maersk raised its full-year 2024 guidance, citing disruptions in the Red Sea and robust container-shipping demand.
