Sports Streaming Service From Fox, Disney, Warner Bros Blocked by Judge
By Dean Seal
A federal judge has blocked the launch of a streaming service from Fox, Disney's ESPN and Warner Bros. Discovery.
U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett issued a preliminary injunction on Friday halting the rollout of Venu Sports, which was slated to go live this fall and cover an estimated 55% of U.S. sports rights.
The judge said the joint venture between the media heavyweights would "substantially lessen competition and restrain trade."
Fox and Wall Street Journal parent News Corp share common ownership.
