J.B. Hunt to Buy Walmart's Intermodal Assets in Shipping Deal
By Will Feuer
J.B. Hunt Transport Services said it has agreed to buy Walmart's intermodal container and chassis fleets as part of a new multiyear shipping deal with the retailer.
The companies said the new intermodal agreement will deepen their ties to one another, increasing the amount of volume and capacity commitments between J.B. Hunt and Walmart. J.B. Hunt said it has worked closely with Walmart for decades.
"Today's announcement is a testament to the mutual trust and shared vision our companies have developed over time," said Spencer Frazier, executive vice president of sales and marketing at J.B. Hunt.
The companies didn't disclose the financial terms of the deal.
