Ryanair Canceled Hundreds of Flights in April as Israel-Hamas War Disruption Continued — Update
By Anthony O. Goriainoff
Ryanair Holdings said it canceled hundreds of flights in April as the Israel-Hamas war continued to disrupt its operations in the region.
The Irish low-cost airline said it cancelled around 700 flights last month due to the conflict, after reporting the cancellation of almost 950 flights in March. Since the start of the war in October, the airline has cancelled around 6,130 flights.
The airline said it also cancelled over 340 flights in the month due to an air-traffic controllers strike in France on April 25.
Ryanair said it operated more than 98,400 flights in April, when passenger numbers rose 8% on year to 17.3 million.
Passenger numbers for the rolling 12 months were up 8.6% to 185 million.
April's load factor--a measure of how full a plane is--fell 2 percentage points to 92%.
