Lockheed Martin, Rheinmetall Sign Preliminary Pact to Expand Collaboration

By Pierre Bertrand

Lockheed Martin and German weapons manufacturer Rheinmetall signed a preliminary pact for expanded collaboration spanning land, air and naval forces.

The agreement specifically includes collaboration on rocket-artillery and laser-weapon systems, as well as on short-range air defence, and training for land vehicles and helicopters.

The pact also encompasses simulation and maintenance, the companies said in a joint statement.

The agreement is expected to deliver added business opportunities for both companies internationally, said Lockheed Martin vice president international, Ray Piselli.
