Philip Morris International Suspends Zyn.com Sales Amid D.C. Probe Over Banned Flavored Nicotine Pouches

Philip Morris International said it is suspending sales on Zyn.com after its affiliate Swedish Match North America received a subpoena from the Attorney General of the District of Columbia regarding the sales of banned flavored nicotine pouches.

The tobacco company on Monday said SMNA is conducting a review of its sales and supply-chain arrangements in D.C. and other U.S. localities where flavor bans may apply.

SMNA intends to comply with the attorney general's request for sales information regarding Zyn pouches. A preliminary company investigation found that there have been sales of flavored nicotine pouch products in D.C., Philip Morris said.

Most of these sales were associated with some online sales platforms and independent retailers, the company said.

Zyn.com sales have represented a small percentage of nationwide Zyn volumes since Philip Morris acquired SMNA in November 2022, the company said.

The company expects to resume shipments and sales on Zyn.com in the coming weeks, according to the website.
