Boeing Nearing Deal to Buy Spirit AeroSystems, Reuters Reports
--Boeing is nearing a deal to buy back Spirit AeroSystems, the fuselage supplier it spun off in 2005, Reuters reported Friday, citing unnamed sources.
--The potential transaction comes after months of talks between Boeing and rival Airbus about a breakup of the struggling Spirit, the report said.
--Boeing approached Spirit about a deal earlier this year as it looked to stabilize a critical part of the supply chain for its strongest selling jet, the 737 MAX, after a door plug blew off of one of the crafts in January, Reuters reported.
--Boeing and Airbus have discussed dividing up Spirit's programs, according to the report.
--Representatives for Boeing and Spirit declined to comment on the talks for Reuters' report.
