Schlumberger, ChampionX Get DOJ Requests for Information on Acquisition

By Josh Beckerman

Oilfield services company Schlumberger, which is buying ChampionX, said the Justice Department requested additional information from both companies about the deal.

Schlumberger said the request was expected.

The companies expect to close the deal in the fourth quarter of 2024 or the first quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

On April 2, Schlumberger said it expected to complete the deal by the end of 2024. The all-stock transaction was initially valued at about $7.8 billion.
